Bega’s Remembrance Day service on Sunday, November 11, was the most well-attended in recent memory, unsurprising given it was the centenary of Armistice.
The crowd at the Bega Memorial Gate and on Carp St was applauded by the Bega RSL sub-branch for coming out in such numbers to not only celebrate the centenary, but to pay tribute to all service men and women past and present.
As particularly special parts of this year’s service, the entire 7th Light Horse Bemboka Troop participated in the parade, and church bells across town were rung.
The Bega District Band was in full “voice” too – just as it was 100 years ago when the end of WWI was declared and the party spilled into Bega’s streets.

The Bega District News also filmed the entire parade and service. Relive the event below with our video coverage.
