Holidaymakers will be able to hit the slopes from June 22, when snow resorts are allowed to open across the state. The opening of ski fields will be cold comfort for those who planned to go skiing at Selwyn Snowfields, which remains closed due to the damage caused by January's bushfires. However, Riverina Ski Sports owner Peter Clucas said he was simply grateful there would be a snow season at all. "A month ago we were doubting whether we would have a season full stop," Mr Clucas said. "Whatever we can get will be a big help." While Selwyn Snowfields remains off the table for skiers, other large resorts such as Thredbo and Perisher will be open for business. Certain coronavirus rules will still apply, including physical distancing at resorts, limits to the number of people on ski areas, controlled access to ski lifts, and increased cleaning of all facilities. Different rules also apply to ski accommodation, dining, and other recreational facilities, with details listed on the individual ski resort websites.
