Eight shooters showed up at the Bega Rifle Club on Sunday, October 14, for what could've been a rough one. As it turned out there were just the usual twists and turns the Bega breeze is known for, and while it caught some out in the first round, it evened up by catching others in the second.

F Standard */120/20 (Telescopic sights, Bipod/Front rest, Military cal): 1st Colin T. Cal .223 115/3; 2nd Mark S. .223 113/6; 3rd David D. .308 110/3.
Ftr */120/20 (Telescopic sights, bipod only Mil cal.): 1st Russell P. Cal .308 109/2.
The lower than average bullseye count showed it was trickier than it looked, with Mark topping that count and Ole only one behind. The general scores weren't too far off the mark considering there was gentle wind variation to swing through – with a few sharp twists. Colin won the day ahead of Mark making it a 1 - 2 for the .223's which doesn't happen all that often.
Russell decided to have a go at FTR. The heavier pills should hold the wind better with the potential to score higher in our twitchy environment, but handling the extra kick and mastering the ski type bipod feet is the tricky part that'll take a little while to learn, as the follow through puts a little more emphasis on the driver than F Standard.
There's a working bee starting 10am to finally plant our trees before the shoot proper.
This Sunday is 600yds championship prone. Any centrefire under 8mm is welcome! Start at 12.30pm at Tarraganda. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
