Organisers are hoping this year’s Bemboka Triathlon will be the best yet.
In its fourth year, officials said upgrades through council meant there was a new paved football from the school to Colombo Park for the running leg of the event.
“It should make the track a little more enjoyable – and safe – for the runners,” organiser Helmut Eder said.
The pool itself has also been stripped back and re-surfaced with “hardly any signs of wear” after a busy summer.
As in previous years, there will be an open triathlon – consisting of a 300m swim, an 11km cycle, and a 4km run.
But there will also be two shorter-distance “fun” triathlons, one for adults and one for juniors – each consisting of a 100m swim, a 2km cycle, and a 1km run.
Organisers said the transition areas would remain the same as they had been working well.
The officials are also adding team events this year – one in the seniors and one in juniors – where teams of four will each complete their nominated event and their individual results will be tallied.
“All individuals of a team must compete in the same triathlon event – either the open or the junior,” Mr Eder said.
Your times will still count as an individual entrant for the results tally.
Going ahead on March 24, entries are open online now at https://form.jotform.co/FOBP/2018BembokaTriathlon.
Entries are $30 for adults and $15 for kids, but early bird discounts apply until February 24. The Open triathlon will run from 8.30am at the Bemboka Pool.
