AHA NSW director of liquor and policing John Green will join hoteliers from three sub-branches - South Coast, Far South Coast and The Snowy Mountains – for the afternoon’s meeting.
Mr Green said the association was proud to show its support for the Tathra community after the March bushfire devastated parts of the town.
“While the Tathra Hotel itself narrowly avoided being destroyed, the bushfire did substantial damage elsewhere, so it was a no-brainer to move the meeting location to Tathra to inject some business into the town,” Mr Green said.
“We’ve previously contributed to fundraising here, however, hoteliers from across the region were keen to do more to support the local economy and community.”
Mr Green said Tuesday’s meeting will include an important briefing from police on the re-engineered NSW Police Force structure, which saw the Far South Coast and Shoalhaven Local Area Command amalgamated.
“We are keen to hear from the newly-formed South Coast Police District’s representative on what the change to the local police structure looks like, and what those changes will mean for hotels and the community in terms of policing response and localised management,” Mr Green said.
“With assaults on licensed premises in the Far South Coast area down an impressive 56 per cent in the last decade, we’ll discuss how we can continue to work together. This figure is thanks to consistent hard work and effort from local hoteliers, police and the wider community.”
