The fishing in the monthly comp was also pretty good with a solid weigh in being recorded with Mick “Uglystick” taking the overall points, which included a good catch of kings on John Moore’s charter.
Other winners were Brenda Setzer, Garry Blood, Garry Beves and Mick Kavic, while Stan “The Man” Bordiuk with his first weigh in showed everybody he means business.
The fishing was good but the down side was one of our members Col Armstrong had an accident at Apex boat ramp that saw him end up in Hospital with a very badly broken wrist that was operated on yesterday at Bega. The club will be keeping an eye on Col’s recovery
Now speaking of Apex it closed on Monday for 2 months and the other boat ramps will have to be used.
They are not suitable for big boats but I did have a meeting with council last week to try and get a few quick fixes at Mill Bay, Taylor’s and The Loop, so the ball’s back in council’s court.
Looking at the other ramps, it’s quite an embarrassment to promote this town and only have second rate facilities to offer the public.
This needs to be addressed over the coming year by council, RMS and the Marine Park.
An interesting thing was fishing up under the power lines where there is a good school of pillies with the tailor having a ball.
And while playing one, watching a jewie sit under the boat but he was not real interested as he was probably full.
But under the schools there are some nice reds to 45cm feeding and a few duskies, so in the bad weather days it’s the good place for a feed and some fun with the kids.
The other report that the Geelong Star the super trawler has been ordered to tie up by minister Greg Hunt after its second shot ended up with more dead dolphins and growing disapproval from the public.
So till next month, tight lines and a big thank-you to Kaz Clark, Di and Chris McDonald for the work that went into the birthday party.
