IT'S been 14 years since water ran over the spillway at Lake Eppalock and this morning it broke its banks.After levels rose through the night, water spilled over the catchment around 8.30am this morning and the good news spread quickly.Tourists from around the region have flocked to the lake after around 100mm of rain fell over the catchment since Friday.Goulburn-Murray Water staff estimated around 6000 megalitres of water was flowing over the spillway, a depth of around 30cm.Lakeshore Caravan Park owner Alec Sutherland said water rose quickly after non-stop rain through the night.But water flowing over the spillway has put the Elmore and Rochester communities on high alert with flood warnings for the Campaspe River.The SES say the river is expected to peak tomorrow.Full story in tomorrow's Bendigo Advertiser.Send us your photos: cos@bendigoadvertiser.com.au
