Gamilaraay artist and musician Dennis Pitt was putting the final touches on the mural adorning the entrance of the preschool on Friday.
He said the ideas of what to put in the contemporary Aboriginal Australian artwork came from the preschool's children.
"I've just put the ideas together," he said.
He said it shows the mother mountain Gulaga, a Yuin warrior looking up at the mountain, the totem of the Yuin the black duck, the entrance of Wallaga Lake and animals from the local area.
"I've just been trying to get it all into one and make it one story," Mr Pitt said.
The preschool's children came out to view his work and were excited to see their new mural almost complete; the turtle and the stingray were their most common favourite parts of the artwork.
The children have already been using the mural in their education as they have been learning the names of the pictured animals in the local Djiringanj language.
While Mr Pitt is from Gamilaraay Country, he said he was given permission from local elders to create the mural.
