The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) issued a warning of severe fire danger conditions in the region on the day, the third-highest of its fire danger ratings.
According to Weatherzone, in Bega Tuesday's temperatures peaked at almost 34 degrees Celsius about 11.30am, but then decreased by about 11 degrees an hour later.
Wind speeds were recorded at 50km/h in the morning and there were gusts of 78km/h.
In Merimbula, temperatures reached 33 degrees Celsius by about 11am on Tuesday and dropped to 22 degrees by 12.30pm, and wind speeds of 48km/h were recorded as well as gusts of 70km/h.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said the dangerous fire conditions were result of a strong cold front moving through NSW on the day, with hot, dry and gusty conditions ahead of the front generating very dangerous fire conditions for most of the state.
BoM released a gale warning for the Eden coast for Wednesday and Thursday, November 13 and 14, but did not renew the fire weather warning it had issued for the Far South Coast on Tuesday.
The RFS reduced its fire danger rating for the region to "high" on Wednesday, two steps less than the "severe" rating it had declared for Tuesday.
But a total fire ban is still in effect, which means you cannot light or use a fire in the open or carry out any activity in the open that could cause a fire.
Also National Parks, which were closed to the public earlier in the week due to the statewide fire emergency, remain closed as of Wednesday.
According to Weatherzone, in Bega on Wednesday it will be sunny, the temperature will hit a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius, and westerly winds will peak at 19km/h.
In Merimbula, it will be mostly sunny, temperatures will reach 22 degrees and winds will hit 22km/h.
For the rest of the week, BoM predicts the weather in Bega will be mostly sunny, temperatures will reach 25 degrees and there will be 20km/h south easterly winds.
In Merimbula, it will also be mostly sunny or partly cloudy, temperatures could hit 30 degrees and winds could reach 25km/h.
