Providing opportunities that is.
The community fund is celebrating two years of helping young people reach sporting and artistic goals.
"We are excited about the way it has evolved, we're up to about 110 to 115 individual grants, that's what we're about," founder Ron Finneran said.
"We're not a charity, we're a support mechanism to provide kids those opportunities.
"We don't want kids to go wondering, we want to give them that opportunity to have a go."
Fellow committee member Wayne Tuckfield said the group had also evolved over the past two years.
"We started as individuals only, but we're finding more group applications and opportunities for coaching, so we've stepped back to revisit the constitution," Mr Tuckfield said.
"It's Ron's brainchild, he planted the seeds two years ago, but we've been able to adapt as things have happened."
"But there aren't a lot of hoops to jump through and we just want people to know the facility exists for that support."
The pair said the whole idea was about helping young people -who might otherwise miss out for financial reasons - make the initial leap in sport or the arts and they hoped to help people across a broad spectrum of interests.
"There is a tyranny of distance where we are," Mr Tuckfield said.
"And we don't want to see any kids miss out on the opportunities they've earned."
Grants are available for up to $500 and people are able to apply twice in a calendar year.
The applications are managed by the five-strong local committee, while the funds have been raised through the support of local businesses.
Mr Finneran said there was "an enormous ground swell" of support from Bega Valley businesses when the Development Fund first launched.
"We held a get together and invited businesses along, our initial ask was for $250, but if you get enough businesses on board we could really start helping kids," he said.
"The more people we helped, the more businesses came on board to the point we now have big support from Bega Cheese and Bendigo Bank."
A critical point for the founders is that the two major sponsors have committed to ongoing support, ensuring more kids will get the chance to chase their dreams.
