Member for Bega Andrew Constance announced $15,000 would be provided for promotion, preparation of Bega Recreation Grounds and to provide facilities for the large crowd expected to turn up for the Canberra Raiders versus the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs trial match.
“He’s a wonderful supporter and has supported us over a number of years,” Group 16 president Allan Wilton said.
“The grant will be put towards providing a great day’s rugby league for all the community on the Far South Coast and the Bega Valley.
“It will also be a wonderful boost to all the business areas because it should attract a large number of people into Bega on the day.”
Mr Constance wanted to acknowledge the work Mr Wilton and his team had done towards the match.
The Canberra Raiders versus the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs trial match will take place on February 23 from 5pm at the Bega Recreation Grounds, Bega.
There are two extra games prior to the match, with the first starting at 1.25pm on the day.
Presale tickets are $15 and can be purchased in Bega from the Commercial Hotel, the Grand Hotel and Cignall Tobacco and Home Brew.
