Before Jesse Buchli’s fourth birthday in June, he was asked what he wanted. He said, very specifically, he wanted a yellow slippery dip with red legs.
Catherine Rogers, a friend of his mother Alison Buchli, decided to search for such an item and put it out there on social media.
Then Sharon Watkin of Inspirations Paint Bega saw the message and knew she had a 30-year-old slippery dip used by her children that might fit the bill.
She painted the equipment yellow and red just like Jesse wanted, then last week organised for Autopro to drop it off at his house in Bermagui while on their delivery schedule, along with some extra paint and polish.
“I just like to help people in need. The smile on his face was worth it,” Ms Watkin said.
Ms Buchli thanked everyone involved in getting the slippery dip to her son; Ms Rogers, Ms Watkin and her staff, and the Autopro courier Toby.
By Wednesday, Jesse had already gone down it 100 times.
“When he knew it was coming he said ‘today is going to be a beautiful day’. When I said why, he said ‘because my slippery dip is coming’,” Ms Buchli said.
