A young Bega student who violently assaulted a fellow schoolgirl has been handed a 12-month good behaviour bond.

The 13-year-old appeared in Bega Children’s Court on Wednesday, July 18, where she pleaded guilty to the assault on a Year 7 girl.
The assault was filmed by other students and posted to social media where it was widely shared, the incident making national headlines.
Magistrate David O'Connor heard the girl threw the victim on to a concrete floor, punching and kicking her to the head and back as she lay in a stairwell.
Police say the victim suffered a severely swollen and bruised eye and bruising to her forehead.
She was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intimidation.
In addition to the bond, an Apprehended Violence Order is in place for 12 months.
