The Member for Monaro John Barilaro visited Braidwood Police Station last Monday to speak with local police about the current state of the station and their priorities for the upgrade.
Mr Barilaro said the announcement, which is part of the 2018/19 State Budget, is a huge morale boost for local police.
“Our hard-working police deserve the very best, state-of-the-art facilities,” Mr Barilaro said.
Mr Barilaro said they were proud to support regional police and the communities they serve.
“That’s why we are committed to redeveloping the police station and providing police with the facilities they need to protect our communities.
“The redevelopment will transform the existing station into a modern facility that will serve the community now and into the future,” Mr Barilaro said.
Mr Barilaro said police in the Monaro Police District do outstanding work right across the region, as evidenced by the most recent quarterly BOCSAR report, which shows all 17 major crime categories remained stable in the 24 months to December 2017 across the state.
“Once the station is redeveloped, our local hard-working men and women in blue will have new modern facilities and equipment needed to prevent and disrupt crime and, most importantly keep the community safe,” Mr Barilaro said.
Minister for Police Troy Grant said the NSW Government is absolutely committed to providing police throughout the state with the support and resources they need to do their job and keep NSW safe and secure.
“Each and every day, local police put their lives on the line protecting our communities, responding to violent incidents, and supporting victims of crime,” Mr Grant said.
“I will continue to fight to ensure our men and women in blue are equipped and resourced to continue the amazing work they’re renowned for.”
