The SNSWLHD said it is working with the private hospital to ensure the best possible outcomes for affected staff and patients.
“Where appropriate, staff will be offered casual employment, and we welcome applications for permanent positions through normal recruitment processes,” a spokesperson said.
“Private patients are asked to speak with their surgeons in the first instance as we work to reschedule surgery procedures.
“The latest Bureau of Health Information January to March 2018 report shows that for South Eastern Regional Hospital, 100 per cent of people had their urgent surgery performed on time.
“In fact, the timeliness of elective surgery for patients across the health district improved for all categories, most significantly for non-urgent surgery,” the spokesperson said.
“The $187million facility, now in its second year of operation, also recorded an improvement in the median time to surgery for non-urgent elective general, orthopaedic and total knee replacement surgery.”
