Teams from Bega, Bombala and Merimbula competed in a range of age groups from around eight years old up to the opens competition.
Bombala District Netball took down four teams – an Opens, Juniors, and two Net-Set-Go teams.
Although it was a hot day everyone played extremely well and showed great teamwork, sportsmanship and pride for their town.
One of Bombala’s Net-Set-Go teams – Bombala Blue – came out on top by winning their category on the day, while the second team was narrowly pipped on a count back for second.
Team organisers said it was extremely pleasing to see the girls, particularly the young ones, willing to fill in for other clubs when they were short so that as many children as possible could play on the day.
The local club thanked everyone involved, particularly the players, umpires and their families for taking them and the support everyone gave all the Bombala teams.
Without this support days like this would not be possible.
Meanwhile, in the Junior age group the winner was Bega, with Merimbula Pink coming in a close second place.
In the Opens category competition was fierce and all three teams were very evenly matched.
The Merimbula Opens team played six games, coming away with three draws, two wins and a loss.
Bombala District Netball played its grand finals on Tuesday night (see next week’s Times for a write-up).
For anyone considering signing up to play, the next competition begins in Term 4. Search for “Bombala District Netball” on Facebook to stay up to date with the latest from the organisation.
