Last month Tathra Beachside was formally recognised by The Star Ratings Gold List as the best caravan/holiday park in Australia.
With a score of 9.8 out of 10, the caravan park won first place in the National Top 10 Caravan-Holiday Parks category for Best Overall Guest Experience.
“It’s lovely for ourselves and our hardworking team to be recognised for what they do every single day,” manager and part owner Carmen Risby said.
“The girls at the office say we get told every day that we are the best park in Australia, but you don’t believe it until you hear it from a national body!
“We’re not the biggest park on the list.
“But it’s not about what we have, it’s about what we do.”
She and her partner Tim Risby started managing Tathra Beachside two-and-a-half years ago, relocating from Gerringong and have loved the move.
“It’s not uncommon to hear people tell us that this is one of the most beautiful parts of the coastline they’ve seen,” Mr Risby said.
He said the secret to their success was that their guests had good experiences across all areas of the park.
“The level of interaction all of our team has with the guests is what puts us up above the rest,” he said.
The recent summer season was the best on record for the park, with more families than had been seen before.
“It’s starting to quieten down now, but look at the weather!” Ms Risby said.
“We’ve had loads of people coming in all week without bookings.”
She said it was lovely to see other South Coast accommodation properties had made it to the Gold List as well.
The Gold List combines millions of guest ratings across hundreds of websites to find the best hotels, motels, serviced apartments and caravan parks in Australia.
The award celebrates only those properties that hold themselves to independent quality standards based on the opinions of those who have actually stayed, as well as an independent judge.
