Whether you are a former player, a supporter or even a member of an opposing team, all are welcome to attend the reunion and enjoy an afternoon and evening of celebration. There’s even a recovery breakfast the following day!
The reunion committee of 15 has been working hard to bring the event together, and are confident of its success, having already received great interest from its advertisement in the Daily Telegraph.
So far calls have come from the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, NSW and the ACT, so it’s clear that there are plenty of Tigers out there keen to return!
So are some of the ex-coaches, former schoolboys players and lots of supporters, with good numbers of ex-players from opposing teams coming from Bombala, Bibbenluke, Nimmitabel, Cooma, Eden, Pambula, Merimbula and Bega.
And what an event the committee has in store for them all! The fun will kick off from 4pm at the Delegate Country Club and along with hours of catching up and talking rubbish, there’ll be a dinner, speeches and live music to enjoy.
The famed 1976 Bombala vs Delegate Grand Final will even be playing on the telly, and loads of photos and memorabilia have already been received to help everyone reflect on the Tigers’ glory years.
Of course the committee are keen to get their hands on any more memorabilia that’s available, so please dig out anything you can share to add to the jumpers, pennants and photos already piling up at the club.
In between all of the festivities there will be a wood raffle and a new Tigers jumper will also be raffled off, which will no doubt prove popular with the crowd.
Dinner at the reunion will be just $20, and the committee is calling for those interested in coming along to get their names down on the forms that are available around Delegate at the Country Club, Hotel, Café, Landmark and General Store, as well as in Bendoc at the pub, and in Bombala at the RSL Club and the newsagency.
Those interested can also phone Carl Crotty on 0428 657 914, Neil Armstrong on 0402 164 684, Phillip Reed on 0427 709 513 or Rugged Cameron on 0428 581 443.
RSVPs are essential for catering purposes by February 14, 2015. (The committee is also interested in hearing from anyone who can help them get in touch with Brian Lovegrove for the event).
Meanwhile think about getting your name down for the courtesy bus that will transport everyone to and from the event in Delegate safely, leaving the Country Club at 4pm on the Saturday, and the following morning at 8.30am for the recovery breakfast. Simply call 6458 8169 to get on board.
And if you’re an out-of-towner, accommodation can be found through the Delegate Hotel on 6458 8091 or the Delegate RTC (for the old nurse’s quarters) on 6458 8388.
The last Delegate Tigers reunion was back in 1989, now, over 25 years later, let’s prove that the Delegate Tigers are as much loved as ever on February 28 at the Country Club!
