It’s a great weekend for bargain hunters!
Starting with the regular and highly popular Bega Rotary book sale. Held twice a year, tonnes of books have been laid out in the Bega Showground pavilion with a steady stream of locals and visitors alike browsing the aisles for a winter read or 10.
It’s open Saturday 9am until 5pm and on Sunday from 9am until 1pm.
The bargains continue with the inaugural Bemboka Market on Saturday.
The Bemboka Improvement Group is hosting the indoor market with plenty of great stalls, food catering and a jumping castle for children.
The market will celebrate home-based businesses and there will be plants, handicrafts and home-cooked goods.
The market will also raise awareness and money for Ovarian Cancer Australia.
The market runs from 9am until 3pm at Bemboka Memorial Hall on Loftus St.
3. Candelo market
Then, as it’s the first Sunday of the month, head to Candelo for the huge regular market.
Stalls stretch from one end of Candelo’s main street parkland to the other, selling everything from fresh produce to second-hand goods, hot food to winter clothing.
4. Friday night lights
There is plenty of entertainment on offer this weekend in the Bega Valley.
On Friday night, Toni Swain will be bringing her soulful country voice to Candelo Town Hall for an intimate show, supported by Roy “Big Daddy” Payne and Andy Zarins.
Tickets are $15 and doors open at 7pm.
In Merimbula, Eagles fans can sing along to all their favourite hits at Desperado, Australia’s best Eagles show.
The band is back at Club Sapphire by popular demand, tickets are $25.
Desperado performs all the Eagles’ best loved tracks including Hotel California, Heartache Tonight, Tequila Sunrise, Take it Easy and The Long Run.
5. Bega Chicks, ladies league-tag
Cheer on the Bega Chicks as they look to continue their winning ways in Group 16.
On Sunday, the Chicks take on the Merimbula-Pambula Hotdoggies at Colombo Park, Bemboka, from noon.
