The league-tag Sea Eaglettes lost to the Hotdoggies, while reserve grade lost to Candelo-Bemboka.
The win to the Candelo-Bemboka Panthers saw them win the Terry Dickson Shield.
Sea Eagles president Chris Sly said the shield was named after Dickson for his long service to the club and Men of League.
“Terry has been in our club and the Men of League and done a tremendous job over the years,” Sly said.
The shield will become a perpetual trophy to be played for each time the Panthers meet the Sea Eagles.
“Hopefully it will come our way next time,” Sly said.
Rumours abound that the long-lost ball from the ’80s (BDN, 30/5) has also surfaced, but Sly said he was remaining tight-lipped “until I have it in my hands”.
Sly said the headline match for the shield was an excellent display of football, in spite of the “atrocious” conditions.
“It was played in the right spirit and was a very tough game.
“What both squads lack in ability, they certainly make up for in heart,” he said.
It was Tathra who opened the scoring on Sunday, 10 minutes in to the rain-soaked reserve clash.
Players struggled with the slippery conditions as handovers and knock-ons plagued both teams.
It was just three minutes later that Brett Dunham was able to cross for the Panthers.
However, the try went unconverted.
As the teams steadied to the conditions, play began fluctuating end-to-end.
Tathra put another try on the board and looked strong with a 12-4 lead.
However, the Panthers struck back once more with David Dixon crossing to put the score at12-8.
Rain continued to pour as play resumed for the second half.
Unfortunately for the home-side, the Panthers had renewed gusto and posted a series of tries to steal the lead.
Tathra added another try to stay close, but the Panthers ran away with the match to win 28-18.
Meanwhile, the Sea Eaglettes lost to the Pambula-Merimbula Hotdoggies 60-0.
Following a deluge of rain, the tag match was very slippery.
The Hotdoggies dominated possession and made breakaway runs on the wing to post the big win.
Sly said he was grateful to everyone for turning out despite the conditions.
“Mainly we want to thank the players and supporters for coming out in atrocious conditions,” he said.
