“I’ve run out of vases I’ve been given so many flowers,” a clearly delighted Ms Earnshaw said.
Although she enjoys being pampered by her three children, who all live in the Bega Valley, it was her wedding anniversary that was particularly special.
The Earnshaws enjoyed a special dinner at Club Bega on Saturday where they were joined by family and friends to celebrate their 60th.
The couple met in Bega when Sydney-based Mr Earnshaw was camping in the area.
Ms Earnshaw had immigrated to the Valley from the Netherlands only a few years before with her parents and two sisters.
They were married on May 15, 1954.
Mr Earnshaw relocated to the Bega Valley and the couple built a home in Bega where they raised their three children - Malcolm, Jim and Roslyn.
“Mick and I are still best friends, we always have been, always will,” Ms Earnshaw said.
“Yes, there are arguments, but we’ve always made up.
“It’s up to yourselves to make a marriage work.”
The Earnshaws are surrounded by family, as although work and study have taken them away in the past, her three children and their families now make their home in the Bega Valley.
The couple have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
“There another great-grandchild on the way in a fortnight, so another reason to celebrate!” Ms Earnshaw said.
It was a busy night for anniversary dinners at Club Bega, with Janice and Bill Finn celebrating their golden – 50th – anniversary with their family.
