THE Lenno Footprint Foundation Family Fun Day was held on Sunday at the Bega Showground, featuring good quality family entertainment.
The day featured activities and competitions such as a wheelbarrow race and a pie eating competition.
There was live music, hot food and speeches by representatives of PCYC and beyondblue.
Attendees could choose to get their hair braided with a feather or have a fake airbrushed tattoo at a stall.
An auction with $20,000 worth of donated prizes was held in the afternoon, featuring such varied items as paintings, balloon toys, passes for Magic Mountain in Merimbula or Mogo Zoo and a bachelor auction.
“It has been a bit slow, but it’s going well now [lunchtime],” organiser Jenny Wells said.
Not all the activities were run as there hadn’t been lots of people in the morning, but the Woods Bakery pie eating competition at 12.30 drew a big crowd.
“The pie eating competition was excellent,” Ms Wells said.
Dan Allen was the winner of the competition, ingesting five pies.
Mr Allen said he was roped into participating by his girlfriend and some others, and he did have a few stomach cramps after he won.
Mr Allen also had a metal works stall, displaying his work for which there had been a “bit of interest” for and had donated three sculptures to the auction.
The musical entertainment who performed on the showground stage included Ella Davies and Darryl Lamb.
Down on the showground itself, Rhys “The Trickster” Davies performed talented tricks for the crowd such as juggling machetes and balancing a chainsaw on his chin.
Paige Backhouse was a clown for the day and her duties involved walking around acting like one, and handing out lollies to children.
“[The children] seem to be enjoying it,” she said.
Lisa Heffernan, also known as Oops the Clown, was present to make balloon toys for children.
Richmond PRA was represented by Maggie Morriss on the day, which is an organisation that supports mental health services.
Other organisations that had a presence on the day were the Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN) and the Bega District Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) Squad.
