The team players were Karter Hampshire, Bree Brownlie, Hannah Feilen, Tilly Yelds, Aleasha Wahrlich, Mel Devine, Shauna Keavey and Zali Lavender in team A.
Mackenzie Phillips, Dakota Miles, Larissa Ponsford, Amber Butterworth, Elsie-Rose Kember, Zara Badewitz, Sarah Moreing
and Jessica Vincent competed in team B.
These two teams performed wonderfully and as a result Bombala Public School were the eventual winners of the overall trophy for the third year in a row.
The two teams were in fact declared joint winners, as they were each undefeated in their respective pools.
There were 10 teams in this division, so it is quite an achievement for our school to be placed so highly.
This is an all the more wonderful achievement as three of our girls are still only in year 4, but they were certainly up to the challenge.
I was extremely pleased and proud of the girls as they showed their superior skills – achieved through lots of hard training.
Team members displayed fantastic sportsmanship and as always were exceptionally well behaved.
They are truly a credit to themselves, their school and community.
Again a big thank you to Marni Moreing for her help with training and coaching and umpiring on the day.
Also thank you to all our parent and grandparent supporters who not only transport the children but cheered all the girls on and helped to organise the girls so that they were always ready to take the court.
The next challenge for our girls will be the South Coast Schools’ Cup in Queanbeyan on April 1.
Unfortunately only one team will be playing in this, so I will have an extremely difficult job picking which of these 16 girls I will be able to take.
