A "large-scale" police operation led detectives to a home on Webb Street in North Parramatta at 9.40pm on February 24 where they found the 33-year-old.
"He was treated at the scene for serious facial, body and leg injuries before being taken to hospital in a serious condition," police said.
Investigators charged three men, 20, 40 and 44, and a woman, 38, with the alleged kidnapping.
Drugs, ammunition and electronic devices were seized for forensic examination along with items believed to have been used in the alleged kidnapping.
The accused were charged with participating in a criminal group to contribute to criminal activity as well as taking and detaining someone with the intent to gain advantage and cause bodily harm.
The 20-year-old, 40-year-old and 38-year-old were refused bail when they appeared before court on February 25 and 26.
The 44-year-old was also refused bail and is expected to appear before the Parramatta Local Court on May 2.
Police said investigations were continuing.
