Renee Ferguson, 48, who is fighting more than 60 stealing charges, was expected to travel from interstate and appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Her lawyer Greg Barns SC told the court that Ferguson, who dialled into the hearing via phone, had returned negative rapid antigen and PCR results after taking the coronavirus tests earlier this week.

"She instructs that she continues to have flu-like symptoms," Mr Barns said.

Mr Barns said he had no medical material to file but Ferguson would be seeing a GP on Thursday afternoon.

She is accused of stealing a $705 Cricket Tasmania junior and platinum membership, a $339 Hobart Hurricanes family membership and $1942 in cash.

She has previously pleaded not guilty to 63 counts of stealing and two counts of dishonestly acquiring a financial advantage.

"The defendant appears to be making efforts to avoid court," police prosecutor Andrew Tye said.

Mr Tye said Ferguson was charged in 2017 and she hadn't turned up to court several times in the years following.

He said former Cricket Tasmania boss Nick Cummins, who is now head of Cricket Victoria, was "10 minutes" from getting on a plane to attend the hearing but was told he could give evidence via Zoom.

Mr Tye indicated other former Cricket Tasmania employees would also give evidence.

Mr Barns said Ferguson provided proof she had purchased a return airline ticket to appear at the hearing, which was slated to run for two days.

A contest mention hearing has been scheduled for March 31. If Ferguson doesn't attend she could be arrested.

If the matter isn't finalised then, it will progress to a two-day hearing beginning May 26.
