The Premier was on a Bega electorate visit taking in several state government-funded infrastructure projects alongside outgoing Member for Bega Andrew Constance.
They took time to chat and play with many of the children at the courts on the morning while admiring the brand new roof overhead.
Following two decades of efforts and fundraising by the Merimbula Netball Association and Merimbula Sharks Basketball Club towards an overhaul of the courts, the state government in 2019 made a significant contribution to see the works completed.
An acrylic surface is yet to be laid, but the impressive superstructure and its drop down nets drew much praise.
Sarah Maguire gave the Premier a tour of the facility, introducing him to many of the club's 450 registered players, a number the envy of most other sporting codes in the region.
He also shot some hoops with the youngest players on the court as well as players from Tulgeen Disability Services, who enjoy the club's inclusion program.
