Council's acting manager of works and assets, Gary Louie said the stabilisation program will be conducted in two stages and aims to create improved road surfaces.
"Works will commence on Main Street, between Market Street and Sapphire Coast Drive, from Tuesday 19 October," Mr Louie said.
Mr Louie said traffic control will be in place and vehicles passing through the site will be kept to a minimum with a detour via the roundabout on Merimbula Drive.
Although the entrances on Main Street may be closed at times during the works, the back entry via Woolworths and Club Sapphire won't be impacted.
"While we understand this work will inconvenience some people, these important upgrades will improve driveability, reduce ongoing maintenance requirements and extend the life of the road assets overall," he said.
The works on Main Street are set to run through to October 30, afterwards council will set its sights around the corner on Sapphire Coast Drive, between Merimbula Drive and Kalinda Street.
Council had set up a letterbox drop to notify all property owners, businesses and tenant within the work zones.
Otherwise services that access the road have been notified as well, these include Emergency services, bus companies and waste services.
