Mother's Day late night shopping in Bega on the Far South Coast a success

Jessica Dwyer, co-owner of the Hub in Bega, organised the one night event in the hope to bring people together and a boost for local businesses during the quieter season.

Stores stayed open until 7pm and the lights shining through their windows enticed people to step in for a look.

On the night, the Green Queen store offered flutes of champagne and a cheese platter for customers while they sifted through the pre-loved items that adorned the colourful shop.

Across the road in jewellery store RedPeg, Gabrielle McGrath has been fashioning her own unique and intricate jewellery in Bega for seven years. She had a range of beautiful items on display, while she worked on some new pieces in her little workshop behind the counter.

Over at The Publican's Wife, families stopped in to browse the new homeware store, owned and run by Alexis Creary.

The sound of Felicity Dowd's voice carried up the street as she stood busking in front of The Hub.

Groups of people listened in while they sat out the front of the newly opened Ellie Mae's Cafe and Bakery, which had also stayed open for the evening.

Inside The Hub, Ms Dwyer was excited to have free Tarot card readings offered by Journey Within Holisitic Therapies, gin tasting supplied by North of Eden distillers and brow styling by Emma May Brows.

Over at Phoenician Street Food, Wassim Hayfa offered a laser light show with a local DJ organised by Bega Sound Collective that played out the front.

A karaoke event was organised by Funhouse Studio, held at Sugar Sounds Vinyl, while at Wattle & Hide Homewares, hair curling and straightening was offered by Kristie Sale along with a platter of food in store.

There were also plenty of art pieces to browse on the night at local galleries.

Spiral Gallery stayed open until 6pm displaying artworks from three artists, Karen Sedaitis, Ray Hamilton and David Beck.

Then just as Spiral Gallery closed, the Bega Valley Regional Gallery welcomed people to celebrate the launch of exhibition CONCRETE.

Ms Dwyer said she was really happy with the end result.
