BVSC property services manager Rickee Marshall said the completion of upgrade works at the facility represented a significant opportunity for qualified businesses, community organisations or other interested parties to operate and manage the saleyards, located on Kerrisons Lane.
"We're pleased to be able to progress the expression of interest process for the long-term occupation and management of the saleyards now that upgrade works are complete," Ms Marshall said.
"The saleyards have undergone significant improvements since 2019, under a $1million grant from the NSW government's Drought Communities Program.
"That work means the facility now features major environmental and animal welfare improvements, upgraded site safety and better community access and facilities.
"With the current contract expiring, we're seeking expressions of interest from any suitable organisations to manage the saleyards long term."
"The saleyards play a crucial role for the agribusiness sector in the south east region of New South Wales," Ms Marshall said.
The saleyards cater for the sale of cattle in the Far South Coast, with cattle drawn from as far as the Monaro to the west, Nowra to the north and East Gippsland in the south.
"The saleyards are a vital agribusiness facility that enable transparent transaction of livestock on behalf of livestock producers in the South East," Ms Marshall said.
Expressions of interest close May 12, 2021, at noon. Interested organisations are asked to indicate their interest via Bega Valley Shire Council's VendorPanel.
