When you walk into a completely dark room and turn on a light switch, instantly the darkness vanishes as light floods the room. Even the moths and little bugs are attracted to the light. Perhaps you've been camping at night and there's no moon or stars and no fire going.

How comforting it is when someone switches on a lamp. There is a sense of relief because you can see. Light gives a sensation of warmth too.
Light is something we all take for granted, and only appreciate it when we don't have it, for example when the power has gone off. We need light to stop us stumbling about in darkness and to warn us of danger.
Jesus Christ is the light of the world and the Word of God. He came into the world to bring the light of truth into the darkness of man's understanding and sinful nature. His Word brings illumination to our minds and guidance to our steps.
Scripture says "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119.105). In the gospel of John, it says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and His life was the light of men" (John 1-4). When we receive Jesus into our hearts as Lord, His light guides and leads us.
We do not have to be swayed by every falsehood and evil tidings. Truth is not a majority vote. We can be grounded in Christ who is Truth. Next time you need a little guidance and illumination on the path you have to take, seek Jesus, because He will light your way and set you on the right path.
