Five members from Bega and three from Eden were set a number of tasks from an operations centre in Sydney, including man overboard, towing and docking to name a few.
Patricia Daly, NSW SES Eden unit's commander said maintaining currency, for all SES skills, not just 'On Water' operators is integral to ensuring the units are ready to assist the community when needed.
"Volunteers refined their skills using the online tasking computer system, sending a task from a central location out to all over the state. With so many people on the radio at once it required care was taken with protocol," Ms Daly said.
"We had been worried winds might hamper our efforts, so it was especially good we managed to get in and out before the storm came," Ms Daly said.
