After sharing last season's premiership with Pambula, the Sea Eagles defeated the Knights by an incredible nine wickets at the weekend!
Travelling to Berrambool Oval to take on the Knights, Tathra won the toss and sent them into bat.
The match had an interesting start with big quick Jayden Heyhorn bowling a waist-high full toss first ball and Merimbula getting off to a flyer to be 0/30 off three overs.
The game swung the next few overs as Tathra removed the top three, including the two star men in Brendan Daley (13) and Dylan Jordan (5), to turn the tables at 3/37 off six.
Daniel Blacka and young gun spinner Cody Preo, with the support of Pete Bennett, continued the good work to keep the pressure on as the score moved to 7/73.
The tail end rode its luck all the way to 128 before Heyhorn returned to pick up the last two wickets in just two balls.
A fantastic bowling and fielding effort, with Heyhorn (4/37) and Blacka (3/19 off eight) leading the way.
Bennett, Cody Preo and Lachlan Brennan all chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Best batsman for the Knight was Ajay Dhanian with 31.
The Eagles now required 129 to win.
Tathra said it made a massive roll of the dice with captain Chris Dwyer slide down the order and big hitting quick bowler Heyhorn sent out to the crease with opener Bennett.
Some big shots moved the side to 0/57 off eight before Heyhorn was removed by Zac Wells for 33 off only 23 balls.
Shannon Grass was given the job at number three and kept the scoreboard moving quickly.
A quality partnership played out the rest of the match with a nine-wicket win being secured. Bennett top scored and picked up man of the match with his 59 not out. Grass was unbeaten on 28.
The Sea Eagles celebrated the big win saying it was a fantastic match to close out 2020.
