So it was a very pleasant surprise to receive a phone call from Robert Sykes, who is a volunteer with the the Eden Information Centre. His group collected donations from people visiting the information centre and the Bega Hospital Auxiliary was the lucky recipient of over $500.
Our thanks go to all the volunteers at the centre and those who donated.
Finally the auxiliary is able to raise money for much-needed equipment for the hospital. Sapphire Marketplace management has given permission for the auxiliary to sell raffle tickets in the centre under strict COVID conditions, and have donated vouchers as prizes.
We are aware that many people don't have cash on them these days, but we are requesting that prior to visiting the Marketplace that you put a few dollars in your pocket so you can buy a ticket and support your local hospital.
The auxiliary starts to sell tickets on Monday, November 30, and the final day will be December 22 when the prizes will be drawn. You will find our members in their purple shirts.
Recently one of our long-time members Joan West died, and the auxiliary would like to convey our sincerest sympathy to Stan and her family. Joan could always be relied on to support the auxiliary in many ways and we miss her.
The next meeting of the Bega Hospital Auxiliary will be held on Friday, January 15, at 10am.
