KAN's Jamie Shaw said his organisation had identified three properties around Tanja as suitable for potentially expanding koala feed trees.
He said last Friday, September 25, Tanja schoolchildren visited one of the properties, located halfway between two known koala population sites, to help KAN with tree planting.
Another tree planting day for the local community was held on the Saturday.
"It was really successful, we we've been blown away by the response," Mr Shaw said.
The original funding for KAN came from the NSW government's Saving our Species fund, and Mr Shaw said a local nursery has offered to donate eucalypt seedlings to allow for more planting to take place.
A second round of planting is being planned for the same property in Tanja.
Tanja School is also running an online fundraiser with the goal of $3000, which will partly be donated to KAN to help the tree planting efforts continue as well as to the Tanja P&C Association as it has been unable to do our its usual fundraisers this year due to the summer bushfires and COVID-19 restrictions.
