Organisers of the multi-vendor space Karen Lott of Sprout Eden, Shannon Woloshyn of Eden Ecos, Shannon Clark of doTERRA, Chantal from XO Foods and Kay and Greg Saarinen of Saarinen Organics see the space as an opportunity to add liveliness to the main street while trying out new concepts within the Eden community.
"The idea is to offer products that are not readily available in Eden while adding vibrancy to the streetscape and addressing the issue of empty retail space," Ms Lott said.
"We can play with new ideas and try out creative commerce while offering space to creators and marketers who have lost trade during the summer and cruise season."
Ms Woloshyn said "for now the space will be a fluid 'pop-up' style to fill empty shop spaces, starting with the old shoe shop beside Sprout, but we hope to see it evolve further.
"We aim to provide a space that also creates community engagement by offering workshops, clothing swaps, garage sales, co-working and creative events," Ms Woloshyn said.
Products currently on offer from the primary stallholders are wholefoods, eco goods and organic skin care and there will be a variety of other visiting vendors contributing throughout the month to create a changing and dynamic market space.
"We haven't had wholefoods available anywhere in Eden until now and I have always wanted to incorporate this in to Sprout, but didn't have enough room," Ms Lott said.
"The community are really excited seeing the space being used and how we are using it. They're excited we are doing something new in Eden. It's a very happy feeling in here."
The space will host an indoor market on Saturday, July 11.
Eden Market Space is located at 136 Imlay St, Eden next door to Sprout and will be open Monday-Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm until the end of the month.
Events and featured stallholders will be announced via their Facebook account.
