Thanks to several corporate and private donors, GoFenceMe was able to allocate $56,600 of fencing materials in April, for distribution through Southern Farm Supplies (SFS) Bemboka, to local farmers and landholders.
GoFenceMe president Mick Keys said they have been receiving positive feedback from many of the recipients, who were saying the distribution of fencing materials "was just what they needed to take a positive step forward in what has been a very difficult time for them".
The charity was established in February 2020 in response to the summer's devastating bushfires.
Mr Keys is a fencing contractor and farmer from Bemboka who was keen to assist in the wake of the January fires.
He met Kathy Kelly when she was delivering hay to Bemboka with South Coast Rural Relief and the Harvey Hay Run.
What developed was a charity to look after what seemed like the forgotten communities of Bemboka, Bombala and Bredbo.
Mr Keys said the committee has been busy raising funds to purchase fencing materials to assist local farmers and landowners to replace their burnt boundary fences.
GoFenceMe is now ready to commence Round 2. Again the focus is on Bemboka through to Numbugga with any affected landholders encouraged to get in touch for more information and to register for assistance.
Details are available on the GoFenceMe Facebook page and www.gofenceme.com.au.
Closing date is June 30 and registration forms are available at SFS Bemboka or by emailing the secretary at gofenceme@outlook.com.
"While many GoFenceMe friends are victims of the summer bushfires, we are asking our many other friends to support the work we are doing - locals helping locals - by donating to our cause,"Mr Keys said
Donations can be made to GoFenceMe at Bendigo Bank, BSB 633 000, Account 172 557 944. Email gofenceme@outlook.com and the charity will send you a receipt for tax purposes.
