"As this event will be conducted amid COVID-19 restrictions, we are opening more voting venues and need to fill more roles than usual," Australian Electoral Officer for New South Wales, Warwick Austin, said.
"This means there is plenty of opportunity - both for experienced election staff and for those who are looking to do it for the first time. There are jobs available before, on and after election day.
"Working on elections is a rewarding community-based activity, providing an opportunity to earn extra money and gain unique work experience."
People from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, he said.
Mr Austin said COVID-19 safety measures would include the availability of personal protective equipment, increased cleaning arrangements and social-distancing mechanisms.
"Our focus is on implementing safety measures not only for our polling venues but for our counting centres as well - for voters, our temporary staff members and others involved in the process," he said.
