Each week the Times publishes a photo from years gone by and asks readers if they know anyone in the photo. The names are then gathered and published the following week. This week's Golden Oldie is of Bombala Kindergarten in 1960.
Last week's Golden Oldie was of Councillor George Cruicshank, one of the first councillor's on the Bibbenluke Shire Council formed in 1907. In 1911 The Sydney Morning Herald reported he was involved in a fatal sulky accident.
"Saturday, George Cruickshank of Gunningrah station, 14 miles from Bombala, died this afternoon as the result of an accident which befell him on Tuesday night. The deceased left town shortly after dusk alone, driving a sulky. The horse was restive, and after going six miles apparently shied, capsizing the vehicle over a stump. Several hours later the horse arrived at the station, and search was instantly made. Cecil, a son of deceased, found his father in a semi-conscious state, and conveyed him home. He was suffering from hemorrhage of the brain and never recovered consciousness."
