The Giants took their annual AFL Community Camp visits to bushfire-affected regions earlier in the week with players making trips to the Bega Valley, the Riverina and the broader South Coast.
GIANTS' new draftee and small forward Tom Hutchesson joined team-mates Jack Buckley, Callum Brown and Shane Mumford in the Bega Valley, where they visited local schools, ran a community footy clinic and assisted with the bushfire clean up.
Taking part in his first Community Camp, Hutchesson said it was an eye-opening experience to see first-hand the damage this summer's devastating bushfires have had on the South Coast.
"If I'm honest it's been a really confronting experience," said Hutchesson.
"For this to be my first Community Camp, it's been extremely eye-opening but at the same time it's been really rewarding."
Hutchesson said it was important - especially in the fire-affected areas to put a smile on the faces of the school children.
"Obviously it's been a really tough time for a lot of people here, so to see so many smiles on kids' faces just reinforces the importance of getting out and lending a helping hand, even if it's simply just running a school clinic."
"We hope that by being down here in Bega, Merimbula, Eden and around the area, we can lead by example and encourage others to do the same."
Sapphire Coast Football and Development Coordinator Mitch Wallis highlighted the significant impact the GIANTS have had in the region.
"Having some of the GIANTS players come down to the Sapphire Coast has been fantastic for our community," Wallis said.
"The excitement on faces wherever we went just highlighted the importance of having clubs visit these areas in a time like this.
"I've had such positive feedback from everyone we visited and I hope we can get them back here soon."
Further up the coast, at Mogo and Moruya, Giants quintet Lachlan Keeffe, Sam Reid, Jake Riccardi, Kieren Briggs and Nick Shipley helped out. The trip included school visits as well as Moruya Hostpial and and helping out at Mogo Zoo.
Following their match with Richmond at Wagga Wagga's Robertson Oval, the Giants' stars spread out all over the state.
In Nowra, Connor Idun and Tommy Sheridan ran a coaching clinic on Sunday afternoon at West Street Oval, before hosting a breakfast on Monday morning at the Nowra RFS station.
The pair then visited both Nowra and Bomaderry High Schools before heading up to Kangaroo Valley to assist with their BlazeAid operation.
