NSW Rural Fire Service district officer Far South Coast Garry Cooper said there had been a couple of flare ups within the burnt area, but he had just received word the 12 units on the scene were close to to containing the blaze.
The fire was on a private property on Tantawangalo Lane and he said it had mainly burnt grass, but also some scrub and trees.
He said there had been no further details on the reports of damaged buildings, but thought they were possibly a couple of old sheds.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage.
