Quaama is "a small school with a big heart" says P&C president Jan Whyte. That was rather evident on Tuesday when the community turned out to help the school celebrate its new enclosed orchard and vegetable garden.

The huge enclosure is the culmination of a three-year project between the school, P&C and plenty of local businesses and helpers.
Testament to the number of helping hands was the stack of appreciation certificates handed out by principal Mark Sullivan and project coordinator Jasmine Ventura. There were certificates for everyone for their assistance with steel fabrication to the donation of worms!
"Our hope is that the kids of today, and well into the future, can pick fruit, vegetables and berries to their heart's content,"Ms Ventura said. "It's a great place to sit and relax as well as learn - and make great memories.
"The school community, wider community, local small businesses and students have all gone above and beyond."
