South Eastern operations manager for Essential Darren Basterfield said network protection equipment activated to isolate supply to the area at 10.02pm on November 14 after detecting a fault on the high voltage electricity network.
Reports from readers and residents indicated the equipment failure resulted in a large explosion and small fire in Dandar Rd.
The fire was quickly put out by residents.
The power outage spread throughout eastern Bega and even Tarraganda residents on Facebook were reporting.
"Local crews were immediately dispatched and identified an equipment failure on the overhead electricity network,"Mr Basterfield said.
"Necessary repairs were made to the network and supply was restored to all customers by 11.12pm."
