With the clock ticking down Tim Shinnick and Emma Keft are pulling out all stops to make sure they go above and beyond their fundraising targets.
You'd think Tim Shinnick would be oozing with confidence considering he was once quite the cat on the dance floor winning the National Ballroom Dancing Title at age 17.
But that was a long time ago, and now aged 38, Tim says he's a little nervous ahead of the gala event.
"I'm used to couples dancing, doing the fox trot and the waltz, that sort of thing. This time I'm going solo which is definitely something out of my comfort zone. So yeah I'm feeling a little shaky," he said.
However he is quietly confident he will fundraise above and beyond his original goal of $3,000 and he's even planning to go the extra mile to make sure it happens.
"I'm thinking if I can get to $3,500 then I will run down the main street in Bega in a pink tutu - but I haven't officially pledged it," he said.
"Watch this space."

Although she considers herself "not quite" the dancer Emma Keft has managed to keep a steady campaign going since she began rehearsing her rock 'n' roll moves eight weeks ago.
While Emma's been jiving it up in her lounge room, her fans have kept the funds rolling in. Soon after hitting her original target of $3,000 she amped it up to $4,000 which she raised within no time.
And now with the gala event just around the corner, instead of kicking back with a celebratory martini, Emma has pledged to hit the streets and airwaves to hit her new target of $5,000.
"You've got to give it that last minute push. I 'm going to keep clawing to the finish," she laughed.
Seems contestant, volunteer fire fighter Garry Cooper is the one to beat. His funds are sitting nicely on $6,000 with a target of $7,000.
At the time of printing the seven Bega Valley Stars had raised just over $15,000 in funds for the Cancer Council. Stars of Bega Valley Dance for Cancer will be held at 6pm, Club Sapphire on Saturday, August 31.
