The man with a grand vision following in the footsteps of Ben Boyd, died on July 30, aged 87.
Mr Lyon was the managing director of Lyon Group Australia, which owns the Seahorse Inn at Boydtown on the southern shore of Twofold Bay, Eden.
While not always seeing eye to eye with council and governments, Mr Lyon was adamant Boydtown could become a vibrant coastal city, with a rail link from Nowra through to Bairnsdale, and residential and mixed commercial use subdivisions on the land surrounding the Seahorse Inn.
That vision for Boydtown's future will be revealed at a gathering on August 23 at the Seahorse Inn.
The event begins at 6.30pm. RSVP to 6496 1361.
Parkinson's Support Group
The Bega Valley Parkinson's Support Group held their August meeting at the Bega Golf Club with most of the discussion at the meeting about the value of the information seminar held in Bega.
Members agreed that they had gained valuable help from the specialist speakers at the semimar.
The meeting agreed not to hold a Unity Walk this year but the group will walk at one of the other support group areas.
Stephanie Austen, the physio from Bega Hospital, has started exercise classes specifically for people living with Parkinson's disease.
The classes will be run at both Bega and Pambula hospitals.
Members please note the next meeting will be held at Club Bega, not the golf club, on September 2, starting at 10.30am.
Men's Breakfast
Hello again Men's Breakfasters, a big thank you to the team for last month's breakfast, in particular, Wassim for another very interesting and informative talk and Jason for the great tucker.
We've got another terrific guest to speak to us next month.
We all have at least some idea of what modern China is like, but how many of us know about the fascinating historical and rural China.
The China where most of the population lives and where much of the lifestyle and culture has been unchanged for centuries.
Shaoying Wang is just the man to tell us.
Shaoying was born in China and is a specialist in rural China tours and his talk will be absolutely authoritative from personal experience.
I suggest you don't miss it!
We look forward to seeing you (and any friends you may like to bring) at our usual venue, St John's Church Hall in Bega, on Saturday, September 7, at 8am, for another great morning together of relaxed fellowship, tasty food and a fascinating guest speaker.
Usual $8 if you can.
Wyndham Market
Don't miss the Wyndham Village Market this Sunday, August 25, from 8.30am to 1pm come rain, hail or shine.
This increasingly popular all weather market offers a variety of organically grown and locally made products and has a reputation of being the friendliest market around.
So catch up with friends over a cup of Wyndham's own great coffee, stock up on all your favourite local products, then kick back and relax over brekkie or lunch in the warmth of the supper room gallery with good food and cuppas provided by the Wyndham Pony Club.
The market is followed by the Jingera Rock Music open mic event from 1pm to 5pm at the sportsground, where musicians of all genres are most welcome.
There's heaters for those cooler days, plenty of seating and good food available on site, so just bring your own refreshments and enjoy a great day among friends old and new.
Stall bookings and enquiries may be made by calling Yvonne on 64 942 443.

Pet of the Week
Toto is looking for a kind and understanding home where he will feel safe. He has some ritualistic behaviours which should improve with time, patience and minor behaviour modification techniques.
Toto has a very gentle nature and would suit a home with retirees or someone able to spend time at home with him. He is house trained, good in the car, walks well on a lead and really enjoys the company of other small non-threatening dogs. Call Animal Welfare League FSC Branch on 0400 372 609 to inquire. (R251000222).
Animal Welfare League NSW is a registered charity that has been caring for surrendered, neglected and abandoned animals for over 60 years.
