Despite it being a matter of considerable interest to so many local residents and businesses and having generated so much discussion on social media, for some reason NPWS was not ready to welcome the media into the hall.

Journalist Denise Dion arrived at the hall to get comment from NPWS staff and a photo, only to be told that there was no one available who was trained to talk with the media.

Even a simple photo was not possible. Media representatives had to phone a Sydney number - which had been incorrectly printed - to get permission from the NPWS media team and have them arrange someone to discuss the matter.

Fortunately no such restrictions surrounded the many members of the public who were making their way into the hall.

Richard Jermyn of South Pambula said he had a number of concerns around the Green Cape Lighthouse accommodation, construction of the new sections of the walk and its impact.

"I have a long time involvement with Green Cape Lighthouse," Mr Jermyn said.

"I was a caretaker there from 1998 until 2000 and subsequently had a lot to do with Green Cape through discussions over lighting," he said.

"I have concerns about turning over the accommodation purely for the Light to Light Walk and not also for anyone interested in staying at the lighthouse," Mr Jermyn said.

He is also concerned about the impact on the environment.

"This is spreading our human impact along the coast. Bringing people into National Parks is good but what is going to be the impact during construction and in having a path along a cliff edge.

"The process by which it is constructed is as important," Mr Jermyn said.

"I am interested to know to what extent people think this is a great idea," he added.
