The game got out of hand early, as the visiting Sea Eagles jumped out to an 18-0 lead within the first 20 minutes.
Ziggie Vincent stemmed the bleeding with a barnstorming run midway through the first half, but it was all Tathra as they built a 38-6 lead at half time.
The Tigers were much improved in the second half, as tries to Jaden Clarke, Jye Brown, and Vincent helped shave two points off the deficit.
Brown and Vincent's trys were particularly impressive, as both scored fantastic solo tries in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Earlier in the day, the Batemans Bay Tigerettes shook off a 2-0 half-time deficit to beat the Tathra She Eagles 10-2.
Hollee Bruce and Nikki-Leigh Francis both scored trys in the second half to make sure Tathra remained winless in 2019.
