It covers the latest developments in feed systems, young innovators, virtual fencing, biological farming and much more.
Foundation director Professor Yani Garcia said this year's symposium will be held at Bega with the popular farm day visiting the Kimber family's property, hosted by Todd Whyman.
The 1200-cow herd is fed a PMR on an 800-cow feed pad, utilising fodder grown at home under a biological system plus purchased concentrate.
The farm day will also include the popular Emerging Scientists' program where young researchers present their work in an interactive session, with the audience voting for the Emerging Scientist Award.
There is also a Women in Dairy Breakfast with guest speaker Jennie Keioskie from the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program.
As always, the symposium includes an impressive line-up of international and local guest speakers. A few session highlights are:
- Dairy feedbase in the future environment by David Chapman of Dairy NZ;
- Young dairy farmers innovation panel by Ashleigh Road, Andrew D'Arcy and Will Russell;
- Quality milking for quality milk by Edwin Kreykes of GPS Dairy Consulting, USA;
- Managing feedbase in TMR systems by Brad Fischer of Meningie West, SA; and
- ABC of margin over feedcosts by Frank Tyndall of Gippsland Victoria.
The symposium will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, July 10 and 11, at Bega.
