Lack of understanding
I have read the article and my only response to David Shoebridge's claim of too many gun the shire is "so?"

How does that equal anything of value? Has the actual rate of crime involving registered firearms gone up?
He gave a vague reference to people being followed home from the pub to steal the guns, how common is that mate? A man of his massive intellect must have something beyond vaguely pointing to a potential outcome.
Here is the single fact, licensed firearm owners are the most careful people in the state. Because they know that anything they do wrong can result in their equipment being seized.
However that's not the point of his crusade. It's not that he doesn't want guns gone. He simply doesn't understand them.

Foolish claims
David Shoebridge is a fool; a naive fool. Guns were designed to propel a projectile. What that projectile is aimed at is entirely up to the operator; either to humanely kill vertebrate pests or shoot targets and win Olympic gold medals.
It is totally irresponsible of Mr Shoebridge to publish this information, he is in effect complicit in the theft of firearms from licensed owners.

Wallaga concerns
I have lived in Wallaga Lake Heights for 40 years and no money has been spent in our area in that time Council has not ever asked the locals about the needs or concerns, just put the rate up each year.
I guess it's nearly that time again so everyone will get a pay rise I suppose. We have to suffer a little more.
We have four caravan parks in the area with people walking on the road to get to the beach. Also school kids walk on the road so they don't get wet feet when the grass is long, which is very dangerous as vehicles are always speeding in this area.
I think a footpath wide enough for walkers plus bikes to pass to be constructed from the northern end of Wallaga Lake Heights to Fairhaven would be a start.
The Camel Rock car park needs to be much bigger as there is no parking in summer. I am sure if you ask the locals they would have a lot more concerns.

Largest personal vote
Despite the pettiness of the Sydney party factions, Liberal Senator Jim Molan has risen above all that with his astounding achievement of 137,000 'below-the-line' votes in the election for NSW Senators on May 18.
Because they recognised genuine political leadership in this distinguished former Australian Army Major-General, 137,000 NSW voters took the trouble to fill in no less than 12 squares below-the-line on the ridiculously complex Senate voting paper to support him personally.
This is the largest personal vote for any politician of any party in Australia's political history. But it's still not enough to overcome the party machine ticket and keep Jim Molan in the Senate after June 30, as Australia's most experienced parliamentarian on national security and defence policy.
In the current period of strategic uncertainty in the Asia-Pacific, Australia needs robust national security and defence policies shaped by the knowledge and experience of quality public officials like Jim Molan.
Concerned citizens who agree with that should write a letter to the Prime Minister requesting his support for Jim Molan to remain in the Senate in the service of Australia's national interest.
The address is: Hon. Scott Morrison, Prime Minister, PO Box 6022, Parliament House, Canberra, ACT 2600.
