Farming can be a tough business anytime and, although the season has been kinder in the South East than other areas of the state, conditions have still been challenging, particularly in the dairy industry.

The Far South Coast Dairy Development Group and the Far South Coast Farmers Network have teamed up to put on a free dinner with keynote speaker Neville Brady for all farmers on Friday, June 14 at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre, Bega.
"Sometimes farmers get isolated on their own farms while they're dealing with day-to-day problems," Ash Rood, chair of the Dairy Development Group and local dairy farmer, said.
"We can forget that social connectivity and having a laugh can be an effective way to deal with farming challenges.
"We had heard from other groups around the state that Neville Brady was an excellent speaker on the topic of rural resilience, so we decided to invite him over."
Mr Brady is a farm boy from Swan Hill and a former Richmond AFL player.
These days he consults widely to farming families and industry organisations on a range of topics to improve personal and business effectiveness.
"Farmers, and men in particular, are prone to stress related health problems and isolation," Mr Brady said.
"I try to use my own life experiences and observations to help people put things in perspective and focus on the positive things in life, such as family, friends and the community."
Join with farmers from across the South East for a night of good food and connection with other farmers as Mr Brady makes us laugh and reminds us to focus on the positive.
RSVPs are needed immediately. Contact Andrew Taylor at Andrew.taylor@lls.nsw.gov.au or text 0428 419 679.
