On Wednesday, awards were presented to the service's nurses and midwives as part of the annual International Nurses Day celebrations.
In director of nursing and midwifery Bega Valley Nicole Tate's address, she focused on the need of nurses to be mindful in looking after themselves.
"Nurses and midwives give everything they have when they're at work," she said.
"It can pay its toll, but they never complain about it.
"It's just the type of profession where people put their patients first before their own needs."

District director of nursing, midwifery and clinical governance Julie Mooney said she was impressed with the quality of younger nurses in the region.
"The talent that is around is very inspiring," she said.
"Nursing is in safe hands. A lot of people who got awards were younger people."
